99 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Education the schools that have been sanctioned for school refurbishment or extensions over the past 18 months; the criteria required for approval; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18680/95]
I will arrange to forward to the Deputy copies of the current primary and post-primary building programmes. The programmes list the schools where major works are envisaged.
Among the factors which would be considered for the purpose of prioritising individual projects with a view to proceeding to construction are: the availability of existing accommodation at the location in question, the extent of new accommodation to be provided by virtue of increased pupil numbers, the state of the existing accommodation where refurbishment is necessary, whether rationalisation is due to take place and the stage of architectural planning which a project has reached.
