Vol. 459 No. 8

Written Answers. - Gulliver Reservation System.

Tony Killeen

Ceist:

130 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade his views on the operation of the Gulliver reservation system; and if it adequately benefits Irish tourism. [19041/95]

The Gulliver reservation system has been developed jointly by Bord Fáilte and the Northern Ireland tourist board as part of their ongoing marketing, and as such forms part of the board's day to day activities. However, as I indicated in my reply to questions on 14 June last, the Arthur D. Little consultants examined the operation of this system as part of their review in 1994 of Bord Fáilte.

I understand that Bord Fáilte, in conjunction with their colleagues in the Northern Ireland tourist board, has since done much work during the course of the year in examining and assessing how the system could be reconfigured, particularly in the light of Arthur D. Little's conclusions. The two tourist boards are participating in a steering group comprising interested parties, North and South, which is actively progressing this work.
