Ceist:

157 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the total number of personnel working in his office and the office of the Minister(s) of State at his Department; the number of support staff and back-up personnel in each office; their titles and responsibilities; their salaries and other associated costs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18932/95]

The following staff are attatched to my ministerial offices at the Department of Defence.

Contract Staff:—

programme manager;

special adviser;

personal assistant;

personal secretary.

The contract staff salary costs are shared jointly by Defence and Marine Votes reflecting my dual ministerial role. Half the total salary costs comes to £49,766 per annum.
Civil Service Staff:—
Higher Executive Officer (private secretary);
staff officer;
clerical officer;
clerical assistant.
The total annual costs in respect of these members of staff are £71,350.
The office of the Minister of State at the Department of Defence has the following Civil Service staff:—
Higher executive officer (private secretary);
clerical officer;
clerical assistant.
The total annual salary costs in respect of that office are £53,929.
There are no contract staff employed by the Minister of State at the Department.
The above staff are employed to provide assistance to myself and to the Minister of State at the Department in our respective appointments.
