Ceist:

158 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine the total number of personnel working in his office and the office of the Minister(s) of State at his Department; the number of support staff and back-up personnel in each office; their titles and responsibilities; their salaries and other associated costs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18933/95]

The information requested by Deputy Callely is detailed below listing the personal staff appointed by me and the Minister for State, Mr. Eamon Gilmore, TD and the departmental staff employed by my Department; costs given are based on annualised salaries.

Minister's Personal Staff:—

One programme manager, one special adviser, one personal secretary and one personal assistant. The contract staff salary costs are shared jointly by the Marine and Defence Votes reflecting my dual ministerial roles. Half the total salary costs comes to £49,766.73

Minister of State's Personal Staff:—

One special adviser, one personal secretary, one personal assistant, two clerical assistant typists and two civilian drivers. The total annual salary costs are £129,122.

The above staff are employed to provide assistance to myself and to the Minister of State at the Department in our respective appointments.

Departmental Staff Servicing the Minister's Office:—

My Departmental Office is staffed by one higher executive officer at a cost of £27,322 (including allowances).

Departmental Staff Servicing the Minister of State's Office:—

The Minister of State's departmental office is staffed by one higher executive officer at a cost of £29,201, including allowances.
