50 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the environmental and health impact studies that have been carried out on the masts which are being erected for the telecommunications network licensed by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no statutory responsibility in relation to the environmental or health aspects of telecommunications masts or the equipment thereon.
The erection of telecommunications masts requires planning permission. Decisions on planning applications are a matter for the local planning authorities and, on appeal, for an Bord Pleanála.
