79 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for the Marine when compensation for the decommissioning of fishing boats will be paid by his Department to people who have made application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2069/96]
Vessel owners who have been approved under the decommissioning scheme, will be notified very shortly. Grants will be paid out as soon as actual decommissioning of vessels has been completed and verified. I expect the entire process to be completed within a matter of months.
