Ceist:

80 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance the total yield from income tax in today's prices in respect of each of the years, 1975, 1985 and 1995; and the percentage of total revenue in each of the three years which was represented by the income tax yield. [2291/96]

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the following table:

I would draw to the Deputy's attention that the income tax yield expressed as a percentage of GNP was 8.7 per cent in 1975, 12.7 per cent in 1985 and 12.3 per cent in 1995.
