Vol. 461 No. 4

Written Answers. - Polling Schemes

Noel Treacy

Ceist:

131 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for the Environment the instruction, if any, he has given to local authorities for the current review of polling schemes; the criteria attaching to this review; the Acts and statutory instruments under which the scheme is being reviewed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3143/96]

The guidelines contained in the "Memorandum for Guidance in the Preparation of Polling Schemes" which applied in previous years continue to apply to the making of a polling scheme under section 28 of the Electoral Act, 1992. I am arranging to have a copy sent to the Deputy. The procedures to be followed by local authorities in making polling schemes are set out in the Electoral (Polling Schemes) Regulations, 1964.
