Written Answers. - Services Sector Strategy.
Deputies will be aware that, while in Opposition, I produced a White Paper on Jobs through Services. I therefore have a strong commitment, as Minister for Enterprise and Employment, to ensure that a statement of the Government's policy for the development of the services sector is published.
A strategy document on the services sector is at an advanced stage of preparation. This document will review the impact and growth of the services sector on the structure of production and employment in the Irish Economy and will examine the factors which affect the growth and development of services. It will also review the balance and types of State supports to ascertain whether these are appropriate and adequate. This strategy is currently being finalised within my Department, in consultation with the industrial development agencies, and I plan to have it published in the near future.
