202 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if he or the Minister(s) of State at his Department have directed any of the staff employed in the departmental constituency office to work directly in the local constituency clinic; if so, if this practice is in the public interest; and if he will make a statement on the matter. No established civil servant has been asked to work in my local constituency clinic or in those of Ministers of State McManus and Allen.

Personal assistants, who are employed as unestablished civil servants have, on occasions, worked in my local constituency clinic and in that of the Minister of State, Deputy McManus.
