372 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when decisions will be made by his Department on the applications submitted under the EC suckler cow premium scheme 1996 for reserve quota; and when all applicants will be notified. [6272/96]
All applicants for additional suckler cow quota from the 1996 national reserve will be notified of the outcome of their applications before 30 April 1996.
Applicants for reserve quota were asked to indicate the number of cows on which they intend to apply for 1996 suckler cow premium. They will be allocated a provisional advance of quota to cover the cows for which they do not have an existing permanent quota. This provisional advance will be subject to all the conditions applying to the category under which application was made being satisfied. Confirmation, or otherwise, of that provisional allocation will be made in July 1996 i.e. following the May 1996 application period for the suckler cow premium, and in January 1997 following the October 1996 application period.
