437 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Marine in respect of his Department and each semi-State body and Government-constituted board under the aegis of his Department but with the exception of members of the Government, the persons who are provided with cars at State expense; the offices held by such persons; the number of people employed to drive such cars; the type of use permitted for such cars; and the total cost in each case. Cars are provided to the Department's sea fisheries control manager, its three senior sea fisheries officers and its ten sea fishery officers. The cars are driven by the officers concerned themselves and are used for official duties only. The cars are used in connection with surveillance and enforcement of sea fisheries control regulations and their purchase was assisted by EU funds.
The cost in each case is listed in the following schedule. The total overall costs indicated consist of the purchase costs of the cars together with the costs of fuel and of servicing the vehicles since purchased.
The information requested in relation to the semi-State sector is not a matter for me.
