91 Mr. Doherty asked the Minister for Health the position the post of second consultant surgeon for the County Hospital, Roscommon, had on the priority list submitted by the Western Health Board to his Department on 13 January 1994. [5971/96]
Limerick East): The post of second consultancy surgeon at the County Hospital, Roscommon, was the first priority identified for that county in the list to which the Deputy is referring. However, while that list identified the consultant staffing priorities for each county, it did not indicate the ranking of these as overall priorities for the Western Health Board area.
My Department has asked the board to review its requests in relation to additional consultant staff, including the possibility of recruiting the above mentioned consultant. I understand that the board is currently carrying out this review.
