Vol. 464 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Senior Citizen's Complex.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

89 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if the Garda have apprehended those persons responsible for recent vandalism, attacks and attempted break-ins at a senior citizens complex (details supplied) in Dublin 7; and if the Garda will patrol the area more regularly to ensure the safety of the elderly tenants in order to prevent any recurrence of this problem. [7729/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that since March the following crimes committed in the complex have been brought to their attention: a burglary at one dwelling and the breaking of windows at another. Both of these incidents are under investigation and no person, to date, has been made amenable for the offences. In addition to these incidents, the Garda have also received complaints regarding youths causing annoyance at the complex.

Foot patrols are performed on a daily basis in the area and these patrols are supported by mobile patrols and the divisional task force. Gardaí have been in regular contact with the residents of the complex to assure them of their continued attention and give advice on crime prevention.
