Vol. 464 No. 3

Written Answers. - Blanchardstown (Dublin) Regional Technical College.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

97 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education if she will confirm the siting of a regional technical college at Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, in view of the recommendation of the Committee on the Future of Higher Education; if not, if discussions are in progress regarding the reconsideration of Finglas as an alternative location in view of the recommendations put forward by a technical sub-group of the committee at an earlier stage; if she will remove the uncertainty by agreeing a decision-in-principle; and if she will make a statement on this issue which is vital to Dublin 15. [8163/96]

The report of the Steering Committee on the Future Development of Higher Education is being examined together with the recommendations of the Higher Education Authority. Consequently, no decision has been taken in relation to the recommendation regarding the siting of a regional technical college at Blanchardstown. When the report has been examined fully I will take the necessary decisions in consultation with my colleagues in Government.
