Vol. 465 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Enrolment.

Ben Briscoe

Ceist:

131 Mr. Briscoe asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, her Department has taken or proposes to take to help find a school place for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12. [9025/96]

The selection and enrolment of pupils in secondary schools is, in the first insance the responsibility of individual schools. In cases where students have been removed from a second level school, my Department's inspectorate endeavours, by a process of consultation with school management, to have the pupil in question placed in the school in his/her locality. These types of cases, which by their nature are difficult to resolve, can take some time to be brought to a conclusion. My Department is continuing in its efforts to have an appropriate placement provided for this student.

I shall advise the Deputy of any developments.
