Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Operational Programme for Tourism Applications.

Michael McDowell

Ceist:

32 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the number of applications approved in respect of each sub-programme of the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994 to 1999; the amount of the grant in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10266/96]

To the end of 1995, over £105 million in EU aid has been approved in respect of over 850 projects under the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-99. Projects were approved by the Department of Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht in respect of sub-programme 1 and by the Department of the Marine and the Central Fisheries Board under the tourism angling measure of sub-programme 2.

Project approvals in respect of all other measures of sub-programme 2 were made by the product development management boards in Bord Fáilte and SFADCo, respectively, while the Marketing Management Board approved all projects under sub-programme 3. The Minister has announced details of many of these projects in a number of press releases, copies of which I should be happy to supply to the Deputy if he so wishes.

The Bord Fáilte product development management board has published its first annual report, covering the period up to the end of 1995, which provides details of the developers and the amount of grant approved in each case. Copies of this report are available in the Dáil Library. The annual reports of the Shannon Development product development management board and of the Marketing Management Board should be available in the Dáil Library shortly.
