Ceist:

65 Mr. D. Wallace asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the total number of full-time equivalent persons working in his Department and related agencies in the promotion of exports; and if he will give a breakdown of this figure by target market. [10244/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 52 and 65 together.

My Department employs 117 full-time equivalent staff. Of these, 31 serve in the tourism division and 40 in the trade division. The remaining staff are assigned to support units such as finance, personnel, information technology and strategy and competitiveness as well as my own office and the office of the Minister of State. Staff focus on functions and sectors as opposed to specific target markets and, therefore, a breakdown by target market is not possible.

As regards the State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of the Department, the number of staff employed in specific areas of activity is a day-to-day matter for the agencies themselves.
