53 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if he will give details of his Department's funding for the Overseas Tourism Marketing Initiative; the targets of the Overseas Tourism Marketing Initiative for 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10272/96]

Of the total projected budget of £6.5 million for this year, funding of the order of £4 million will be provided from subhead B.3 of my Department's Vote for the Overseas Tourism Marketing Initiative in 1996.

This amount comprises £1 million Exchequer funding and a matching £3 million which is recovered from the EU under the Operational Programme for Tourism. The OTMI runs consumer marketing campaigns in four markets: the US, Britain, France and Germany. Its target for 1996 is to make a major contribution to the achievement of the national holidaymaker target, set by Bord Fáilte, of a 13 per cent increase in 1996.
