Ceist:83 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Justice the estimated cost of the policing required in relation to the BSE problem as at 30 June 1996, 31 July 1996 and 31 August 1996. [11299/96]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 81 and 83 together.
The estimated additional cost in 1996 of the policing arrangements in Border areas in relation to the illegal importation of cattle and beef products is approximately £16 million. The monthly projections requested by the Deputy are not readily available but I will communicate with the Deputy when these costs are to hand.
