Ceist:136 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment the road construction projects, if any, that will be funded from the EU Cohesion Fund in 1996; and the amount that will be paid in respect of each project. [11404/96]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 135 and 136 together.
Responsibility for the selection of road projects for submission for Cohesion Fund assistance is a matter for the National Roads Authority following consultation with my Department, the Department of Finance and the European Commission. The commitment of Cohesion Fund assistance in respect of individual projects is a matter for the Commission.
Road projects approved to date for Cohesion Fund assistance are set out in the following table. The actual level of EU assistance to be received for individual projects in any year will depend on the progress on the projects and on future project approvals by the Commission.
