Vol. 466 No. 6

Written Answers. - Corrected Birth Certificate.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

40 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health when a corrected birth certificate will issue in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the delay will mean she cannot apply for an old age pension on 16 June 1996. [12118/96]

Limerick East): The administration of the registration system is a matter for An t-Árd Chláraitheoir (Register-General) of Births and Deaths and local registrars who operate under his general direction. I am informed by An t-Árd Chláraitheoir that his approval has been given to the registration of the birth, referred to by the Deputy, and that the necessary authority has issued to the local registrar in order that the registration may be effected. The registrar has been instructed to furnish An t-Árd Chláraitheoir with a copy of the new entry, which will be forwarded to the applicant immediately it comes to hand.
