66 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the current position regarding the £2 million allocated to the Boyne Navigation under the Operation Programme for Tourism 1994-1999 in respect of work on the Boyne Navigation; if he will give details of the allocation of funding to the Boyne Navigation; the work to be carried out; the location on the Boyne of this work; and when this work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question Number 98 of 28 May 1996.

Since then I have decided to commission a feasibility study to examine the possibility of restoring a section of the navigation from Slane to Staleen Lock. This study will include,inter alia, the issue of title covering the entire navigation but with specific emphasis on this particular stretch.
