Vol. 466 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Donegal Group Scheme.

Patrick D. Harte

Ceist:

83 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for the Environment if he will expedite all matters regarding the Stragaddy group water scheme, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12045/96]

Under the devolved arrangements for the operation of group schemes in County Donegal, matters relating to the processing of applications and the technical supervision of the planning and construction of schemes are the responsibility of Donegal County Council.

The council has requested, as one of its conditions of approval, that the group would provide a 100mm facilitating main to boost water pressure in the area. This would, in effect, double the cost of the scheme. My Department has asked the council to re-examine the proposal with a view to achieving economies and a response is awaited.
