24 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has to improve the implementation of EU Directive 313/90 regarding freedom of access to environmental information; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12328/96]
Amended regulations on access to information on the environment will be made shortly and will include a reduction of the period for response to requests to one month, as a general rule. In line with Government commitments to improve access to information generally, the Access to Information on the Environment Regulations will be kept under review in the light of forthcoming freedom of information legislation.
