Vol. 467 No. 1

Written Answers. - National College of Art and Design.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

109 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the current position regarding the proposed move of the National College of Art and Design from Leinster House premises; and the plans, if any, he has to allow students to remain here until their new college is erected in 12 to 18 months' time. [12868/96]

The Deputy will be aware of the longstanding nature of the plan for the National College of Art and Design to relocate in its entirety to Thomas Street. The Deputy will also be aware of the plans to provide additional library and new créche facilities for the Houses of the Oireachtas on the site at Leinster Lane which is currently occupied by the college.

Consultations to ensure the harmonious implementation of these plans are continuing and the Deputy can be assured that all relevant interests and concerns will be fully taken account of in reaching decisions including decisions on timing of moves.
