245 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Education the total number of remedial teachers employed in schools under the aegis of her Department; the location of schools in which such remedial teachers are employed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12806/96]
There are currently 1,188 remedial teachers in place at primary level. In many cases the remedial teacher will be shared between a number of schools. In addition, there are 350 ex-quota remedial teachers at second level. Information regarding the location of each of the individual schools involved is not readily available within my Department and would require an inordinate amount of time to compile. However, if the Deputy has a particular area or group of schools in mind, I can arrange to provide him with the relevant information.
