Vol. 467 No. 1

Written Answers. - Use of School Premises.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

246 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Education the consideration, if any, that has been given to the use of a school premises when not in use for the education of its enrolled pupils; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12807/96]

Many schools already make their premises available for community and other uses. The use of schools outside of school hours is a matter for the management authority of the school. The management authority must ensure that there is no disruption of school work, that adequate insurance cover applies and that the school property is safeguarded.
