Written Answers. - Defence Forces Early Retirement.

Ceist:

316 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Defence the number, by rank, of members of the Permanent Defence Forces based at Rock Hill, Letterkenny, and at Lifford, County Donegal, who have applied for early retirement; and when a decision will be made and announced in respect of these applications. [12488/96]

A total of 38 applications under the voluntary early retirement (VER) scheme have been received from personnel based at Rockall, Letterkenny and Lifford military posts, categorised by rank as follows: two Company-Sergeants, one Company Quartermaster-Sergeant, three Sergeants, eleven Corporals, 21 Privates.

All applications will be evaluated by a VER board and each applicant will be notified of the outcome of his/her application as soon as possible.
