Ceist:86 Mr. Killeen asked the Taoiseach the current unemployment figures for County Clare; and the comparative figures in respect of each of the years from 1994 to 1995. [12688/96]
Written Answers. - County Clare Unemployment Figures.
Results from the annual Labour Force Survey, which is the most widely recognised measure of employment and unemployment, are not available on a county basis. However, results from the 1995 survey indicate that there were 13,000 people unemployed in the Mid-West region* in April 1995. The corresponding figure for April 1994 was 17,200. Results from the 1996 survey will be available in October 1996.
The most recent live register figures for Clare, together with corresponding figures for 1994 and 1995 are set out in the table below.
