59 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the most commonly used illegal drugs; the likely cost of supply of such drugs; the likely method of obtaining money by addicts for such use; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12800/96]
The Department of Justice has no firm statistics relating to drug misuse. However, provisional figures for 1995 indicate that about 67 per cent of all prosecutions for drugs offences were in respect of Cannabis resin or Cannabis herb, 17 per cent were in respect of Ecstasy and 7.7 per cent in respect of heroin.
