Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - Herd Registration.

John O'Leary

Ceist:

297 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to register a herd (details supplied) in County Kerry in view of the fact that is was requested on a number of occasions during the past year. [13521/96]

It is understood there was a family herd number — H240033 — registered to the father of the person named. However it would appear that a joint application for sheep grants was made by father and son in 1995 and 1996. Normally these would have been processed under the family herd number — H240033 — but were processed instead under a flock number — H240F27. All flock numbers were replaced last year by dormant herd numbers. If the person concerned wishes to be considered as an individual applicant in his own right in 1997 he will be required to make an application for grants and will be assessed for entitlement to a herd number under the normal criteria. Alternatively he may make a formal application for a herd number now by contacting his local office.
