Vol. 467 No. 7

Written Answers. - Army Headquarters Decentralisation.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

434 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Defence his views on the decentralisation of sections of army headquarters to locations outside Dublin in the context of the current reorganisation of the Defence Forces; whether Kilkenny will be considered as a suitable location for such a proposal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14196/96]

The first phase of the plan for the restructuring and reorganisation of the Defence Forces is under way and it is expected that it will take approximately three years to complete. The question of the location of sections of Army Headquarters will be examined in the overall context of the plan as progress is made on its implementation.
