108 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education whether grant assistance will be forthcoming in respect of GNVQ courses, such as the catering course in the North West Institute of Higher and Further Education, County Derry, in the current academic year or the next academic year; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Courses at BTEC higher national diploma level or equivalent offered at approved colleges in Northern Ireland may qualfiy for recognition under the scholarships scheme operated by vocational education committees. If the courses in question are of this level, my Department will be prepared to consider an application for recognition from the relevant college authorities.
