Noel Treacy

Ceist:

40 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction a project (details supplied) in County Galway; if his attention has been drawn to the urgency of this situation; the date on which sanction will be granted; the amount of grant to be allocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17607/96]

Contract documents for Gort regional water supply scheme are with my Department but, having regard to the existing high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve them.

Ceist:

41 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the serious problems at a location (details supplied) in County Galway; if he will provide relevant funds to rectify this situation; if he will direct the relevant local authorities to proceed to resolve this matter; the date on which action will be taken; the amount of money to be allocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17608/96]

There are no proposals with my Department at present regarding remedial works on this privately sourced group water scheme. I understand, however, that the pollution of the groundwater source is currently being investigated by Clare County Council which is also providing advice and technical assistance to the group on measures to improve the quality of the supply.
