148 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Education the number of transport companies invited to tender for the provision of transport services during EU ministerial visits and meetings; the name of each company; whether bus, taxi, hackney or limousine service companies were employed to provide such services, which did not have to go through a tender procedure; and if she will make a statement on the matter. There has been one EU ministerial visit. The transport arrangements for which were made by the embassy of the member state concerned.

There have been no EU ministerial meetings in the education sector so far. There will be one such meeting on 6 December 1996, however the arrangements have yet to be finalised.

An informal meeting of youth ministers will be held in Cork on 13-15 November 1996. Tenders for the provision of transport have been sought from three companies, Eirebus, Cronin's, Cork, and Galvin's Dunmanway.
