219 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education whether members of boards of management of schools at primary level must have children attending the school concerned. [18478/96]
The current position regarding the constitution of boards of management is as follows:
(a) For schools having a recognised staff of not more than six teachers
(i) Three members appointed by and representative of the patron;
(ii) Two members, parents or legal guardians of children enroled in the school, one being a mother, the other a father, elected by the general body of parents of children attending the school;
(iii) The principal teacher of the school.
(b) For schools having a recognised staff of seven teachers or more
