164 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of applications received to date in County Cavan under the control of farmyard pollution scheme and the dairy hygiene scheme; the number of approvals issued; the total grant payment made; the proposals, if any, he has to eliminate the backlog of applications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There have been 1,059 applications for the control of farm pollution scheme and 489 for the dairy hygiene scheme in respect of County Cavan. Of these 670 and 213 have been fully processed, with approvals issued in respect of 627 and 180, respectively. All the remaining applicants have been written to, in line with procedures introduced last September, and responses are awaited.
To date in County Cavan total grant payments of £1.3 million have been paid under the control of farm pollution scheme and £0.17 million under the dairy hygiene scheme.
