Ceist:

165 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of persons employed by him to deal with press-related matters during the course of Ireland's Presidency of the EU; the total costs associated with such appointments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18834/96]

One assistant principal officer, one information officer, one higher executive officer, three executive officers, and two clerical assistants are employed by my Department to operate the press and information division and they deal with all press-related matters.

During the course of Ireland's hosting of the Council of Agriculture Ministers of the European Union and Special Committee on Agriculture meetings, held in Killarney on 22-25 September 1996, three executive officers were assigned from other areas of the Department to assist in dealing with media related matters over this four-day period.
