Vol. 470 No. 4

Written Answers. - Licence Applications.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

322 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Marine the steps, if any, currently being taken to sort out the issuing of a licence to a person (details supplied) in Donegal, who was told on 6 January 1995 that all issues to do with this particular licence would have to be sorted out within a year and whose marine survey is almost out of date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19011/96]

The application in question, together with a number of other applications under the scheme for the registration of previously unregistered fishing vessels, is being assessed by the Department from all relevant perspectives.

The Department wrote to the person to whom the Deputy refers in February 1995 seeking certain undertakings which were required in order to progress the application. The applicant has largely complied with the necessary conditions but has not yet forwarded an up-to-date survey report. The survey report previously supplied in respect of the vessel was completed in 1990, and does not establish the current state of seaworthiness of the vessel.

On receipt of an up-to-date survey, the matter will be progressed as quickly as possible.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

323 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Marine the reason for the delay in issuing a sea fishing boat licence to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when this licence will issue. [19138/96]

The application in question, together with a number of other applications under the scheme for the registration of previously unregistered fishing vessels, is being assessed by the Department from all relevant perspectives.

The Department wrote to the person to whom the Deputy refers in September 1994 seeking certain undertakings which were required in order to progress the application. The applicant indicated at the time that on fulfilment of these conditions he would contact the Department again. On receipt of these undertakings, the matter will be progressed as quickly as possible.
