31 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he or any official from his Department had any input into the recently drawn up IDA programme for the Border region. [16728/96]
In May 1995, IDA Ireland drew up a list of priorities for land and buildings in the Border counties in the context of additional funds becoming available from the EU to support the peace process. I assume this is the IDA programme to which the Deputy is referring. At the time there were critical shortages of land in key towns such as Sligo, Letterkenny, Cavan and Drogheda, and no advance factories were available in the Border counties.
This programme was discussed not only with senior officials from the Department of Enterprise and Employment and the Department of Finance, but also with Oireachtas members from the Border counties.
