The Western Development Partnership Board which was established in 1994 is an independent company limited by guarantee and operates under the aegis of my Department.

The board's term of office will conclude on 31 December 1996 at which point it will be replaced by a Western Development Commission.

The board has a staff of three, comprising a chief executive, a personal and research assistant and a clerical assistant. It is funded from a grant in the Vote of the Department of the Taoiseach. The amount of its grant in 1996 is £120,000.

Othe bodies that operate under the aegis of my Department include the National Economic and Social Council, ADM Ltd., the Law Reform Commission and Irish Genealogy Ltd. There is a total of 39 staff employed in these bodies. The Exchequer contribution to these organisations in 1996 is £956,527. This amount excludes the operating cost of ADM Ltd. which is funded by the Technical Assistance Sub-Programme of the Operational Programme for Local Urban and Rural Development.
