114 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the total value of the Irish beef market in each of the years 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995 and likely value in 1996; and if he will give a breakdown of beef exports, their destination and value. [19500/96]

Exports for 1996 are estimated to reach 405,000 tonnes and are valued at £690 million. It is expected that 60,000 tonnes will be exported to the UK, 110,000 tonnes to continental EU countries and 235,000 tonnes to third countries.
