Vol. 470 No. 7

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Lynch — the need to introduce a "clean slate" mechanism after a specified period of time for those previously convicted of a minor offence; (2) Deputy Deasy — the need to formulate a policy to assist owners of thatched commercial premises to enable them to retain or replace existing structures because of their heritage and cultural values; (3) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the question of the State taking over responsibility in the legal action against BNFL regarding Sellafield; (4) Deputy Power — the urgent need for the provision of the new school at Allen National School, Allen, County Kildare; (5) Deputy Hughes — the need to sanction proposals submitted to the Department of Education by a company (details supplied) in County Mayo to enable the provision of a vocational education committee/Outreach community based school in Newport; (6) Deputy Séamus Brennan — the need to commission an independent review of the tunnel option for the Luas project; (7) Deputy de Valera — the plans, if any, the Minister for Justice has for changes in the Censorship of Films Acts; (8) Deputy Crawford — the need to change the national lottery rules in order to avoid a situation of the kind which arose recently whereby a sum of £1 million pounds was added to an already unduly large prize fund; (9) Deputy Eric Byrne — the need to establish a special task force to tackle long-term unemployment in the north and south inner city areas of Dublin; (10) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the failure of the Minister for Education to address the problems at Gaelscoil Tomás Dáibhís, Mallow, County Cork; and (11) Deputy McCreevy — the failure of the Minister for Education to appoint an educational psychologist for primary schools in north Kildare.

The matters raised by Deputies Power, McCreevy, Dermot Ahern and Seámus Brennan have been selected for discussion.
