Vol. 470 No. 7

Written Answers. - Lough Key (Roscommon) Islands.

Seán Doherty

Ceist:

119 Mr. Doherty asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the amount of money he has allocated for works on the islands at Lough Key, Boyle, County Roscommon; and when such works will commence. [19974/96]

Routine conservation work is carried out at Church Island and Castle Island as part of the ongoing maintenance programme of national monuments. Major works were carried out at Trinity Island between 1989 and 1994. These works comprised both archaeological excavations and architectural works at a cost of some £200,000.

Further works will be carried out as required.
