Michael Ring

Ceist:

62 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid the arrears in his old age pension. [20735/96]

The person concerned was awarded a retirement pension with effect from 21 December 1995 at a weekly rate of £127.50. This includes an adult dependant allowance in respect of his wife, and a fuel allowance of £5 per week which is payable for the winter heating season. A book of payable orders has been issued to his local post office payable from 21 November 1996.

Pre-retirement allowance and disability allowance will continue to be paid to him and his wife up to that date. Arrears covering the differences between these payments and the rate of pension now payable will be issued as soon as possible.
