Vol. 471 No. 4

Written Answers - Departmental Correspondence.

Declan Bree

Ceist:

106 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht when a reply will issue from his Department to correspondence from a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20942/96]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to today's Question No. 107 concerning specific correspondence from the individual concerned.

In addition to that correspondence, that individual has written three times in the last 12 months approximately to the waterways service of my Department in his capacity as joint secretary of a community development company. This correspondence has been replied to on each occasion within a few weeks of its receipt.

Declan Bree

Ceist:

107 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht when a reply will issue from his Department to correspondence from a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim; his views on the failure of his Department to respond to such correspondence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20943/96]

Following receipt of the correspondence referred to by the Deputy the National Parks and Wildlife Service of my Department contacted the writer by telephone to clarify certain aspects of the matters raised. On the basis of that clarification an interim reply was prepared and issued on 8 November 1996. I understand more detailed research is required before a final reply can be prepared in this case and I have asked the NPWS to issue such reply as soon as possible.
