Written Answers. - Sole Custody Orders.
I presume from the Deputy's question that he is seeking information on the number of cases in which the court has awarded custody of a child to one parent only. Court statistics are not maintained in such a way as to provide this information or information on the gender of the parent to whom custody has been awarded. However, I can provide the Deputy with statistics on the number of custody only orders and combined custody and access orders granted by the District Court in the legal years ending 31 July 1993, 31 July 1994 and, 31 July 1995 and these follow. Figures for year ending 31 July 1996 are not yet available.
