Treacy asked the Minister for Education where a sum of money (details supplied) has been expended in County Galway; if she will ensure that the commitments made over the past number of years are fulfilled immediately; if so, the date on which the decisions will be taken; the location of the expenditure; and if she will make a statement on the matter. An assessment of the post-primary educational facilities at the centre in question has been completed recently by my Department. My Department has approved the provision of a new single sex school at the centre to replace the girls' secondary school. In addition, development works have been approved in principle for the vocational school.
It is my Department's intention that the development of these facilities at the centre in question progress as expeditiously as possible. If the Deputy requires information about any specific primary school in the area, I will be happy to supply the details.
