Vol. 472 No. 4

Statement by Taoiseach.

I wish to avail of your courtesy, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, and the courtesy of the House to correct something I said during Question Time. I stated, in response to a question from Deputy O'Dea, that the second letter from the Attorney General to the Minister for Justice had not been sought or seen by the inquiry. That was not correct. It was seen by them. It was on the file. The Attorney General supplied a copy of the letter additionally to them, so they did see it. I was not aware of that. I thought they had not asked for it. I can correct the record now.

I thank the Taoiseach for correcting the record. Does that mean that the letter is no longer confidential?

It does not affect that aspect, but they did see it and were able to take it into account.

I suffer disappointment once again.
